Mobi-blogging.

September 22nd, 2009 Lunacite No comments

So this is a first, this entire post will have been composed ane edited on my Blackberry. I searched my office for a notepad, but failed to find anything larger than 3×5, so I activated the full docs to go suite on my mobile, since I’ve been meaning to blog, but wouldn’t be at my desk much today.

Its been a hectic month, Nate moved in till his room at the U opens, and its been really neat having him around. The house has gotten a bit messy after a couple back to back parties, we really need to take a Saturday to deep clean it. Once Nate gets into his dorm it’ll be simpler.

New roommates! Hopefully everything goes smoothly with the screener and they get to move in as planned. At the very least, my wallet won’t be as anorexically thin as it is now. It’ll be weird to be in a full house again, but definitely welcome to have some ladies around.

I had totally forgotten that TV series begin to pick up in the fall, I’ve been trying to catch up on House before I start the new season. Dexter starts this sunday, and this season looks pretty promising, Keith Carradine returns and John Lithgow joins the cast as well, and it’s always nice to see more of Julie Benz.

I think that the format on my phone is making me think this is longer than it is, and not just a series of random twitter-length posts. Not that it really matters, but I’d get more of a sense of accomplishment from typing MORE in the BlackBerry than less. I don’t think I’m using the full potential of the device, and I’d like to change that, but I wish there were more free apps, the app store seems a little bare. I also wish there was a way to browse it from my pc.

So I just checked by loading this doc into full word 2003 at work, and its actually the same length as it appears in word to go. I’ve been incredibly impressed with the whole dataviz suite, I’ll probably pick it up once my trial is over. I don’t know how useful powerpoint to go will be though, I have yet to require a presentation be prepared sans computer.

I’m also fairly impressed at the speee at which I can continue typing on the storm screen. So far I’ve been relatively error free, and can do about three sentences a minute, which isn’t bad since I’m composing and not transcribing something.

Post lunch I’ve been hit with a wave of lethargy, walking around the office in a semi-daze, waiting to be snapped back to reality by a coworker. These chairs are terrible. The lights hurt my eyes. I need some water. Might take a nap when I get home. Blargh.

I think this may turn out to be one of my longest blogs, which mostly validates using word to go on the BB and proves it as a viable platform for such things

Update!

June 3rd, 2009 Lunacite No comments

So it’s been awhile since I decided to do a proper update. Was going to do last night, but got distracted by watching Fanboys and playing CoD 4. Still unpacking from my nonmove, and going through my stuff as it gets out of the box. It turns out I’ve been keeping a lot of silly stuff/packaging/garbage.

Found a roommate, so I get to stay in my awesomehaus. Just going through the screening process, but that shouldn’t be an issue. Welcome to @arendon! Still looking for one or two more people, contact me at chris (at) lunacite (dot) com if you’re interested.

Other news, we’re getting close to PAX season, looking at the new releases that are gonna be there, the first that jumps out at me is Natural Selection 2. Original NS was an AMAZING game, and I have high hopes for NS2. As soon as I have some free cash, pre-ordering the special edition.

The second release I’m looking at now is Assassin’s Creed 2. I’m a HUGE fan of the first, and this one looks even better. I’m really hoping Ubisoft comes out with something cool for PAX, I missed the initial Assassin’s Creed feature they had, and it’s one of my few PAX regrets.

A third thing I’m looking forward to for PAX, not really game related, is picking up a Utilikilt for this one. I’ve been wanting to for a couple years, first time I opted to get a DS instead, second time I’m not sure what stopped me. Thinking tan, to match my Oakley boots that I will most certainly be wearing. My shoes last year failed me.

That’s all I can think of right now, I had initially planeed more for this post, but meh. It’ll show up when it shows up.

This is the shirt I want to live my life in.

Today has gone really really well. Seriously one of the best days I’ve had in awhile. Woke up without being tired, decided to wear my kick-ass Oakey O-line shirt because I had execs to impress again. Got to the meeting prep session and went over my part a couple times in a dry-run. Without any specifics, we’ve come up with a way to revolutionize the processes we currently use. It’s a lot of change, but it’s very very good. In the break before we presented, I ran down to the cafeteria and found they had one of my favorite types of sandwich, which locked this in as being a pretty solid day. Egg salad for the win. Got back into our meeting room as people started filling in, director of this, VP of that, whatever. Went through our presentation, nailed all facets of it. I’m really excited to see what comes out of this last few weeks.

Left the meeting and got back to my desk, about 2 miles away from the meeting room. The campus is a lot bigger than I thought. Went over and filled in my Supervisor and Manager with what went on at the report out, then walked to lunch cause it’s a CRAZY nice day today. At this point I just felt fantastic. I don’t know what all came together, but I feel great. I think it’s the shirt.

Weekend

March 3rd, 2009 Lunacite No comments

So the weekend was pretty decent. Finally got some time to loaf around the house & not have any fixed plans until the evening. After a pretty solid Naxx25 run friday, we finished up the construct quarter by the skin of our teeth, and pulled out some major shenanigans against Sapphiron and Kel’thuzad. I’ve now got both the keys to the focusing iris, so Malygos is going down soon. We got a few good runs in on him on Monday too, it’s just damn phase 3 that’s a problem.

So, Saturday night after finishing up Naxx, I went over to Ben & Sara’s for brownies, Settlers, Flight of the Conchords, etc… when we get the hankering for some terribly unhealthy food. After venturing to Greenlake to find an hour wait at Beth’s , we settle on nachos. Coming back from the Safeway, my engine starts belching steam, and my heat pegs to the top of the dial. Ben & Sara went a block down to the QFC and picked up a couple gallons of water, one of which went in the radiator. I made it back to their place and let it cool down for a bit before trying to make it back across the water. I had to stop on Mercer island to let it cool down and add ANOTHER gallon in, so I’m thinking I have a leak.

Sunday I hitched a ride down to Southcenter with Mac and Mike on their way down to the coast, played a really fun game with Ben Williams. Came out a draw, but there was major damage done to both forces. As the store was closing, Joel showed up, fresh from the sandbox. Joel, Ray, Annie & I all went out for dinner to Famous Dave’s for some good old american BBQ, and Joel was gracious enough to cover everyone. Amy and Jordan never showed up, so no mage went on, but it was fun to just relax & hang out with Ray, Annie, and later, Joel. I’d had kind of a nasty cough all day, and it got even worse on….

Monday, woke up knowing I’d have to take the bus in. I yawned and felt the air BURN the way down. I reflexively coughed and felt a pain in my ribs indicating I’d been coughing all night. So I called in, moved my PC downstairs for less noise crosstalk, and got a bunch of achievements I’d been putting off. I also started cleaning up the “office” area upstairs, and my room. I’m combining that with a garage project that should organize most of my assorted junk.

Spotted the leaking hose in my engine at lunch, should be pretty simple to take care of. Glad it’s not something more expensive.

Sleep

February 20th, 2009 Lunacite No comments

Resetting my clock to random times is not working. I managed to check the time on my cell phone, note how long I have & set my nap alarm.

Managed to find my shoes for the memorial this weekend. It’s been awhile since I’ve had to wear these. They could use a shine.
