Representative Brian Blake has introduced a bill to the 2016 session of Washington State legislature, HB 2481, The hearing in Olympia for this bill will be on January 21st, and it would help for everyone who is available to make it. I’ll post more details about the hearing when they come along, but this is the bill that will clarify the intent of the previous SBR bill that allowed SBRs to be sold in WA. If passed, the change to RCW 9.41.190 sec (1) will read as below:
(2) It is not unlawful for a person to manufacture, own, buy, sell, loan, furnish, transport, or have in possession or under control, a short-barreled rifle, or any part designed or intended solely and exclusively for use in a short-barreled rifle or in converting a weapon into a short-barreled rifle, if the person is in compliance with applicable federal law.
This is a vast improvement over the current version:
(2) It is not unlawful for a person to possess, transport, acquire, or transfer a short-barreled rifle that is legally registered and possessed, transported, acquired, or transferred in accordance with federal law.
This is the bill that everyone who’s had a denied Form 1 is waiting for. CONTACT YOUR STATE LEGISLATORS and urge them to support it.
